Safety Tips For Kids And Teens To Stay Safe And Still Have Fun
Kids at different developmental ages have different problems that are related to their level. However, there are also many problems all kids face no matter what level of development they are at. Each child is an individual and a parent knows best how to satisfy the needs of each child. Safety tips for kids and teens must be groomed for each individual to meet their needs.By: John W Sheridan
Let's now go on to discuss how our kids can stay safe and still have fun.
Teach Kids to Play Away From Any Strangers
Kids should be taught that if there are strangers around they should move to a different area, preferably where there are adults they know and trust, to play. Now if a parent or trusted adult is with them it may very well be ok if strangers are present as long as the adult supervising the child is attentive. The old saying stranger danger is still very accurate.
If while playing a stranger approaches them they should quietly walk away and seek an adult that they know and trust immediately. The second best option would be for the child to join into any group of kids in the area. Someone looking to do them harm will not want other children around when they approach the child.
Try and Establish a Check-In Time
Older kids need room and independence. That does not mean they are free of danger and that we will not worry about them. If you establish a set check-in time that they need to call you to let you know that they are safe it will alleviate a lot of worry on your part. If the child does not call in as they are suppose to then they may be in danger or they forgot to do so and are probably in trouble with you.
Try to Go Out in Groups
A teenager, especially a young woman, should always consider going out in groups, friends she knows and trusts. Date rape is a serious problem. Kids can wind up at parties with alcohol or drugs being distributed. If they are in a group of friends they will have a better chance of avoiding the problems that would arise from such a situation. Safety in numbers still works.
